Nature-Inspired Elegance: The Leaf Tall Vase by Pierre Foulonneau

A Poetic Design that Captures the Essence of Nature

Nature materializes strongly in the Leaf Tall vase created by French designer Pierre Foulonneau. The vase associates crystal and metal in a poetic design where a golden leaf sits in a transparent pedestal. The result is a vase bearing an unalterable natural presence, even when empty. And, during flower season, the metal part acts as a receptacle for greeting and showcasing fresh flowers.

The Leaf Tall vase, part of the Leaf collection by Pierre Foulonneau, is a stunning example of nature-inspired design. The intention behind the collection was to create objects that capture and mimic the beauty of nature. Foulonneau's vision was to create objects that pay homage to both Riva's craftsmanship and the luxurious nature of Brazil.

The Leaf Tall vase is a crystal vase with a unique twist. It features a metal leaf-shaped part that gives the object an unalterable natural presence, even when empty. The leaf sits in a transparent pedestal, playing with light and reflections as they change throughout the day, bringing life into a poetic still life composition.

During flower season, the leaf acts as a receptacle for greeting and showcasing fresh flowers. This design not only serves as a decorative item for the home but also adds an emotional and poetic touch to any space.

The Leaf Tall vase is meticulously crafted using Italian mouth-blown crystal for the vase itself. The metal leaf is spun brass with a choice of silver, 24-carat gold, or nickel black plating finish. The combination of these materials and the intricate craftsmanship results in a design that exudes elegance and luxury.

The Leaf Tall vase measures H 32 x dia 12.5 cm, making it a statement piece that can easily fit into any interior design concept.

The creation of the Leaf Tall vase was not without its challenges. The spun brass part, with its deep shape, presented difficulties in obtaining the desired result. Additionally, the polishing process required careful attention. The design team also had to test several suppliers to find one that could deliver the challenging angular shapes of the glass part in a crystal-clear finish that allows the leaf to appear inside the vase.

The Leaf Tall vase project began in September 2018 and was launched in February 2020. The design was created in Nantes, France, and the development and production took place in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

The Leaf Tall vase has garnered recognition and accolades for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. The Leaf Tall vase exhibits strong technical and creative skills and contributes to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.

The Leaf Tall vase by Pierre Foulonneau is a testament to the beauty and power of nature-inspired design. Its unique combination of crystal and metal, along with its elegant form, make it a standout piece that adds a touch of sophistication to any space.
